1. What should I do if I don’t get my resource kit?
It is very important to notify Lisa via email or phone at least 2 days before the first session on the 27th of August 2020 and an arrangement will be made so that you have the resources available to you for the first session.
2. Do I need an operational computer and internet access?
Participants must have access to the internet and a computer or tablet to attend each session or access to a computer or tablet for the 12 week, one hour sessions.
Participants will also need access to an email account to receive program information and updates.
3. Who can attend the sessions?
Only the participant and their carer or support person (only one person in addition to the participant living with dementia).
4. How many people will be attending the sessions?
There will be 10 participants living with dementia and the carer or support person in the group sessions.
Lisa as the facilitator at each session, Gary Glazner will visit us three times for the poetry sessions and Graeme Atkins will provide us with two musical performances over the 12-week program.
In addition to this, we will have an assistant writing the stories and poetry in the background at each session.
5. How do I connect to the each weekly session?
Lisa will email you the invitation, which will contain the Zoom meeting link, which will be the same for all 12 sessions, before the start of the first session.
A weekly email remember will sent to you each week, this email will also include your Zoom meeting invitation.
6. What happens if I miss a session?
It would be shame to miss a session but these things do happen and we will greet you with a warm welcome at the next session week.
7. What do I need to bring to a session?
Find yourself a comfy, quiet spot to sit with your computer or tablet device.
Login early, so you have time to rectify any technical issues.
- Check your computer microphone is working.
- Check that the camera is working.
- Be sure that you have read your instructions in your resource kit about joining and attending the Zoom meeting.
- Have that week’s images and other materials at the ready and these are found in the resource kits supplied.
- Refreshment at the ready, a bottle of water or a cuppa if you like.
8. What happens to my work long term?
- The resource kit is yours to keep for personal use; it is not be reproduced without optioning permit first from Lisa Hort.
- Each session will be record and used as outlined by the media release form.
- This program will be progressively evaluated, and participants and their carer or support will be ask to participate in the evaluation. The information gathered will form a qualitative and quantitative research document.
9. What will the role of my carer or support person be during a session?
Participants are asked to have a carer or support person at each session.
- This person’s role is to support and assist the participant but not to speak for them.
- To assist with the computer or tablet device, if needed and help to connect to each weeks Zoom meeting.
- To help with organising the weekly resources for each session, if needed
- Echo the participant’s verbal or non-verbal contribution, if needed.
- It is important to allow each person time to contribute at the session and not to speak for them.
10. Are there any terms and conditions attached to my involvement?
- You will need to sign and return the media release form to Lisa via mail or email before the start of the project, which is the 27th August 2020.
- Understand that all sessions; will be recorded, and then collated into a video by a professional videographer and uploaded to the internet, free to anyone to view.
- This program will be progressively evaluated and participates and their carer or support will be asked to participate. The information gathered will form a qualitative and quantitative research document.
11. What computer software do we need to access the sessions?- For computer: you do not need to sign up just to attend a meeting via your computer browser.
- For Tablet device: download the free Zoom app for your type of from Apple App store or Google Play. You need the app to access zoom on mobile devices
- You will find instructions and help sheet on using Zoom included in your resource kit
12. Will this program be offered again in the future?
- Yes, I would like to offer this project as part of my regular fee base programming.
- For this program, we were fortunate that I received funding to deliver this project for free to the community under a Create NSW Health and Wellbeing Initiative (COVID-19 Quick Response)
