'Hands on History' was the Summer part of the Four Seasons in One Dementia Day Grant that Port Macquarie Hastings Council received from Dementia Australian to deliver a series of four dementia-friendly community activities with seniors living with memory loss in the local community.
The 'Hands on History' project took place at three historical sites, at each location the seniors immersed themselves into the historical theme by dressing up in period costume and re-enacted historical scenes. Armed with iPads, each senior had the opportunity to capture photographs of each other with the outcome being a photographic exhibition held at Port Macquarie Library on Seniors Week 2019, launched by Mayor Peta Pinson.
